Privacy and terms
What I collect, why, who else handles it, how long I keep it, and the rights you have over it. It is short because the site does little: reading it asks nothing of you, and signing up asks for one thing.
Who I am
I am Teresa Lo, and I publish ActiveInvestorMag.com and AiM Weekly. I am the person responsible for the data described on this page. You can reach me about anything on it at hello at activeinvestormag dot com, or by post at 1577 Gulf Rd PMB 1207, Point Roberts, WA 98281, USA.
What I collect
If you only read the site, I collect nothing from you. There is no account, no login, no advertising and no analytics. This site sets no cookies of its own and stores nothing in your browser.
The site is hosted by Cloudflare, which, like any web host, keeps short-lived server logs of each visit (see Cloudflare, below). I do not use these logs to identify or follow readers.
If you sign up for AiM Weekly, you give me your email address and, if you choose, your first name. MailerLite, the service that sends the emails, also records the date and time you signed up, the IP address you signed up from and the country it suggests, and which form you used. That record is the proof that you asked to subscribe. When you open an email or click a link in it, MailerLite records that too.
Why I collect it
I use your email address to send you what you signed up for: AiM Weekly, the free Lazy Portfolios Snapshot that comes with it, and now and then a short note about the site. I use your first name to greet you. I use the open and click records to see which pieces are useful and to keep the list healthy.
I send these emails only because you asked for them. Signing up is a two-step process: you enter your address, then confirm it from the email MailerLite sends you. Nothing is sent until you confirm, and every email carries a link to unsubscribe.
MailerLite
I use MailerLite to manage my email subscriber list and to send emails to my subscribers. MailerLite is a third-party provider, which may process your data using industry-standard technologies to help me monitor and improve my newsletter. MailerLite’s privacy policy is available at mailerlite.com/legal/privacy-policy. You can unsubscribe from my newsletter at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link at the end of each newsletter.
Cloudflare
I use Cloudflare to host this website and deliver its pages to you. Cloudflare is a third-party provider, which processes technical data about each visit (your IP address, the page requested, your browser type and the time) using industry-standard technologies to deliver the site, keep it fast, and protect it from attack. If its systems suspect automated traffic, Cloudflare may set a strictly necessary security cookie. Cloudflare’s privacy policy is available at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
Who else sees it
No one else. I never sell, rent or share the list, and there are no partners, advertisers or sponsors who receive it. The only outside services that handle your data are MailerLite and Cloudflare, and they handle it only to do the job I use them for, under their data processing agreements.
How long I keep it
Your address stays on the list until you unsubscribe. If you have not opened an email in 90 days, I will write once to ask whether you still want AiM Weekly, and remove you if you do not answer. If you ask me to delete your data entirely, I use MailerLite’s "Forget" function, which erases your address, your history and your signup record within 30 days.
Your rights
You can ask me, at no charge, for a copy of the data I hold about you (access); to correct it (rectification); to delete it (erasure); to stop or limit how I use it (restriction and objection); or to receive it in a common file format (portability). You can withdraw your consent at any time by unsubscribing. Write to hello at activeinvestormag dot com and I will answer within one month.
Cookies and links
This site sets no cookies, so there is nothing to accept or decline. The only exception is the Cloudflare security cookie described above, which is strictly necessary and set only when Cloudflare suspects automated traffic. The news items link to other websites; those sites have their own privacy policies, and this page does not cover them.
Children
ActiveInvestorMag.com is not meant for anyone under 16, and I do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes and complaints
If this page changes, the date at the top changes with it; if the change matters to subscribers, I will tell them by email. If you are unhappy with how I have handled your data, write to me at hello at activeinvestormag dot com and I will put it right.
