Panama Canal adds a Neopanamax slot and raises the maximum draft

The Panama Canal Authority said on Monday that it will increase daily booking slots at its Neopanamax locks from nine to ten starting 15 October, Maritime Professional reported⁸. Why the limits are easing

gCaptain reported that the canal is easing restrictions on vessel draft and daily transits after improved rainfall and water-saving measures helped stabilise water levels². The Maritime Executive said the Authority is easing some of the restrictions it began imposing over the summer to manage water levels in anticipation of drier conditions³.

Why it matters to investors
